Day 1 - ....and so it begins

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a place for me to log my progress with losing weight. My mum has asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding in May 2012, and has picked out some lovely dresses, only problem being that I need to slim down quite substantially.

I have been in a constant battle with my weight ever since I lost my baby nearly 4 years ago, and I have always found it difficult to stick to any sort of diet. As someone that has battled with depression for more years than I care to remember, I have developed a love/hate relationship with food, and this has just spiraled out of control. The biggest kick in the teeth was when I was trying on trousers for a job interview I have coming up; 3 teenage girls sitting on the bench outside waiting for their mums to try on their clothes, as I walk into the changing room with my size 24 trousers, I hear them giggling with comments such as "did you see the size of her". It's pretty difficult being this size as it is, and I know they were just silly little girls, but it hits hard.

Now that I have a definite target though, I'm hoping that will keep me motivated, because the last thing I want is to let my mum down. My fiancé has promised to help me with this by setting me goals for a day and helping to develop an exercise routine, as I am really bad at keeping up with those sort of things. I have a vision for what I eventually want to look like, but for now I need to set myself a realistic short term goal. I would be happy to lose 2lbs a week to be honest, as long as I can see my progress. That is where this blog comes in, right from the beginning.
